Reflection
I have to say that I am very pleased overall with the outcome of this year's event. After volunteering last year, I expected a little more stress and problem solving to occur--not that it did not happen, but certainly not at any level of detriment. I owe most of that to my team and the preparations that were taken prior.
I conducted interviews throughout the entire day with the help of Jake, Dallis, and Kyle. This was absolutely my favorite part as far as event duties go. Kiva and every filmmaker/scholar were so generous in their answers and provided great feedback on their films/papers, outlook on their future, and their overall experience with Visions4. I also loved the video race set up by Taylor and Kateland and thought it was a great spin on a Visions tradition. I'm still upset though that my team didn't bring home the W.
If I could change anything about the day and my preparation, I would see to it that the step and repeat be set up in it's space the night before the event. We didn't run off-schedule because of it's set-up, but it would have lessened that stress if it had been taken care of the day before. This way, more time would be spent on ensuring the quality set up and organization of the film equipment. I would also make sure that we had zip-ties to fasten the step and repeat!
